I've got spam relaying off of our server 2003 and we keep getting blacklisted.  I've searched and followed every tutorial I have found on how to block it, yet it still comes from time to time.  The only way to block it is REACTIVE by blocking the email address after I see it in the queues.  Any help appreciated!

What I've Done: (and all enabled on SMTP server)
Enabled Recipient Filtering: Filter not in directory
Enabled Sender Filtering
Enabled Sender ID Filtering
Connection Filtering: has 3 blacklists
SMTP Auth: Anonymous, Basic, IWA
SMTP Relay: Server Range and Loopback, Allow all successful authenticate to relay

Thanks in advance

Just to be sure... You also enabled the filtering on the SMTP virtual server?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823866
quote:

Apply the connection filter or the recipient filter or both to the appropriate SMTP virtual servers
You must enable the connection filters and the recipient filters on each SMTP virtual server where you want these settings to be applied. To apply a filter to a SMTP virtual server, follow these steps:
Start Exchange System Manager.
Expand Servers, expand Server Name, expand Protocols, and then expand SMTP.
Right-click the SMTP virtual server where you want to apply the filter, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, click Advanced.
Click the IP address that you want to apply the filter to, and then click Edit.
In the Identification dialog box, click to select either the Apply Connection Filter check box or the Apply Recipient Filter check box.
Click OK, click OK, click Apply, and then click OK.
Restart the SMTP virtual server where you applied the filter.
Repeat steps 2 through 8 for each virtual server where you want to apply the filter.

DNS reverse lookup would appear to be a great idea. The principle is that it checks the domain name against the WHOIS registered server IP, thus thwarting spoofers. Unfortunately it slows down the server so much, that everyone I know who tries reverse lookup soon turns it off again.

Hi,

There are many ways to fight spam. Which works best? So far the best single solution is probably Bayesian filtering. But you don't have to choose just one. Many of the following solutions could be used in combination.

Complaining to Spammers' ISPs

Good: Raises cost of spamming.
Bad: Laborious.
Role: Partial solution, for experts.
This was the original spam solution.
