Hi All
I have several exchange 2000 servers running in our environment. I want to replace one of them with new more powerfull hardware.
I installed a "new" W2K server with SP4 and all hotfixes after SP4 release. Then I installed Exchnage 2000 and SP3 with no errors during the installation encountered.
Please note no mailboxes have been moved to the server it is a default install.
When the server is rebooted the event log reports "System Attendant service failed to start because of the following error: %%0". After this I am able to start the System Attendant service and all other related Excahnge services with no problem.
Have anyone seen this before?
Out off despiration I installed Exchange 2000 Hotfix KB870540 roll up package, but this did not make a difference.
Please let me know at Jacquesc@asj.co.za
Thanks Jacques

You need to re-add the Server computer account to the Exchange Server object in the Schema:

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;325674&Product=exch2k
