I have succefully installed Exchange 2010 RC1 on 2008 R2 64. All working fine : internal Outlook 2003 clients connects ok! OWA with ssl certificate i'ts OK..., etc.... but I have a problem with Outloook Anywhere...  I've tried several solution (from several forum)... but without success.... Can anyone help me to throubleshotting this problem please? Thanks a lot in advance

i've succefully installed 2010 RTM, but have same problem with RPC over HTTP.

however...

https://mail.domain.com/owa.... works!
https://mail.domain.com/rpc.... (DOMAIN\user / passowrd) .... works
https://mail.domain.com/rpc/rpcproxy.dll.... (DOMAIN\user / passowrd) ....  works

any ideas?

Let's first confirm it's not a firewall issue. Open the IIS management console and browse to the RPC virtual directory and search for the file rpcproxy.dll. Right click on it and select browse, it will ask to authenticate and when the authentication goes OK a white page will de displayed.

The 401 error means something goes wrong with the authentication, can you run the get-webservicesvirtualdirectory |fl and post the output here ?

No strange things to discover, found some other tips on internet:

Rpcdump /s mailbxoserver


Under ncacn_http, you should get entries like below:

OK thanks for the info next step will be to execute the following command from one if the clients which is outside the company:

RPCPing.exe –t ncacn_http –o RpcProxy=<the external host name of Outlook Anywhere> -u=10 –a connect –v 3 –E –R <HTTP Proxy Server or none> -P “username,domain,password” –H 1 –F 3 –b

This command uses basic authentication so if this works it might be an option to switch to basic authentication for outlook anywhere and check if everything works.

Besides this you might increase the logging level to troubleshoot this issue further. This can be done via Powershell:

Set-eventloglevel “MSExchangeSA\NSPI Proxy” –level expert
Set-eventloglevel “MSExchangeSA\RFR Interface” –level expert

Then try again and after that look for events in the event logs.

You should change it by using the set-outlookanywhere command, in this case something like this:

Set-OutlookAnywhere -Name Server01 -DefaultAuthenticationMethod Basic

But I still can not solve the problem.
So, in summary, again I enabled Outlook Anywhere with the command:

Looks ok but the 401 means incorrect authentication but it looks OK what you did. Did someone made changes via the IIS manager ?

I've reinstalled a new MAIL server...

and now RPC connectivytest (https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/)
and finally working fine !!!

but cant connect from outlook 2007 client
the test results with
two warnigs...

first one certificate chain
second one NspiBind returned ecNotSupported. This typically indicates that your server requires RPC encryption. ExRCA will attempt the NSPI test again with encryption.

but i don't have encription on mailboxserver

Get-MailboxServer ServerName | FL MAPIEncryptionRequired

-- returns FALSE
