Just an FYI: I have Treo 755p & 680p that can't sync. After negotiating the SSL connection, the Treo sits there and says "Receiving..." This goes on for 10-15 seconds. Then VersaMail eventually fails with error message AirSAMstate.c 1913 4628. From what I can tell with my WinMo Treos, as soon you make the SSL connection, you are given a prompt to make sure the "device is conforms with Exchange mobile device policy" (not the actual msg - don't have the device in front of me anymore). After saying OK, the Treo downloads mail, contacts, etc. My guess is that the newer VersaMail doesn't understand the prompt and just sits there waiting to receive email. A guy on the Palm forum said it only happened with Exchange 2007 SP1, not RTM. So until Palm fixes VersaMail, we're stuck with either synching through the desktop, or using an email-only program, like DataViz's RoadSync (ignore their claims - the Palm OS version only supports email since "you already have everything else with EAS"). BTW, I have older Treo 650s (Palm) as well as Treo 700wx (Windows Mobile) that work fine. Another gotcha - the 755 didn't understand a UCC/SAN SSL cert. So I had to back it down to a single name cert, and it got a little farther until the error above.

I submitted a comment to the palm site admins about your error code not being listed on the chart here: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,Case=obj(41831)#httpstatus I really hope they doctor up Versamail and fix this receiving until timeout problem with SP1. I spent some time on the support chat with palm 2 days ago and he was able to duplicate the receiving problem, but I ran out of time and we didn't get anywhere close to resolution. He suggested it was the server's problem and not versamail. (grrr). Have you tried any support options to get an incident report rolling too?

I had some luck getting a centro device to sync by removing all policies from the server and thus leaving the device profile under a users milbox with no policy to prompt enforcement acceptance. Seems you were dead on guessing that it was this prompt that hangs the initial sync. Hope this fixes your issues too.
