I had Exchange 2000 server running beautifully until last week when the information stores failed to mount and then the Active Directory became corrupt and then the computer would not start.

I have backups of the .edb and .stm information store files and I now have a new server running exchange 2003. Is there any way I can mount the old stores on my new server or even export the data from the old stores without having to buy an expensive tool like Ontrack PowerControls?

I assume you have backups of the transaction logs as well?! You can use the ESEUTIL to repair the databases and make them consistent so you should be able to mount them again...

I did have backups which made the database consistent but my server still does not mount the stores.

The only way I can see at the moment is spending $1500 on PowerTools just to retrieve the data.

There has got to be another way!
