I am attempting to setup the catch all function as found in the MS article: HOW TO: Forward Mail with Unresolved Recipients to a Single Mailbox

I have managed to create the VB6 DLL and connect it to the SMTP virtual server as descibed. I have tested it and it does work (tested by connecting to Default SMTP Vitual Server)

The problem is with the setup of the forward between the two SMTP virtual servers - it just doesn't seem to work. This is what I have setup:

A second IP address on the NIC in the same range so I now have eg 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2)
The Default SMTP VS to recieve email on IP 192.168.0.1
The EmailCatch SMTP VS to recieve email on IP 192.168.0.2
The Default SMTP VS 'Forward all mail with unresolved recipients to host:' to [192.168.0.2]

I have used the message tracking center to view the path of the message and two are shown below:

Message sent to a KNOWN recipient:

SMTP: Message Submitted to Advanced Queuing
SMTP: Started Message Submission to Advanced Queue
SMTP: Message Submitted to Categorizer
SMTP: Message Categorized and Queued for Routing
SMTP: Message Queued for Local Delivery
SMTP: Message Delivered Locally to ***@***.co.uk
SMTP Store Driver: Message Delivered Locally to Store to ****@***.co.uk

Message sent to a UNKNOWN recipient:

SMTP: Message Submitted to Advanced Queuing
SMTP: Started Message Submission to Advanced Queue
SMTP: Message Submitted to Categorizer
SMTP: Message Categorized and Queued for Routing
SMTP: Message Queued for Remote Delivery
SMTP: Start Outbound Transfer of Message
Message transferred to relay.***.net through SMTP

As you can see the second message does not seem to be forwarded to the second SMTP VS - it just gets sent straight out to my ISPs SMTP relay. I am not sure if the message tracking centre will show this forwarding process, but on recieving the message back to the sender the headers only show it entering the exchange server and then being forwarded out to the ISP relay.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful!

TIA
