Hi I am struggeling with an upgrade plan for our Win2000 Server and Exch 2000 servers to the 2003 systems. I ran a lab to up to 2003 exchange first using the inetorgpersonfix.ldf script plan but I am not getting it to work. I am planning now to up a 2000 server to 2003 that contains the FMSO roles but not exch and then add 2003 exch to new 2003 servers. Is this the way to go or is there a better way ?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314649 is the only thing you really need to pay close attention to.

I think you must upgrade your 2000 domain to 2003, and then upgrade Exchange 2000 to 2003. I think it's normally.

sergebsn: You are wrong.... You don't need a 2000 domain for run Exchange 2003 in a 2000 or 2003 server.

Hiya Serge, Windows 2000 domain controllers with SP 4 will support an Exchange 2003 environment, Degie, follow the advice that Mark has given you, upgrade Exchange First then your Domain Controllers. Thanks A

Hi i have tried this article before and every time I run the inetogpersonfox.ldf script it reports an error and does not run or change any attribute. My lab uses upgrade.co.uk as a domain that is still in mixed mode. I setup a 2000 ad server with all the FMSO roles and an additional AD server with exchange. What am I doing wrong ?

Hiya D, what is the command syntax that you are running with the orgfix script - its very specific - if you can post it we can have a look, also can you post the error? Also, whilst on the subject, have you enabled Schema updates on the Schema Master prior to running the script? Cheers,A

Hi If I run MS article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314649 I do not even find the mangled attributes. If I run MS article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325379 with syntax C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ldifde -i -f inetorgpersonprevent.ldf -v -c DC=X "2003mailserver.upgrade.co.za" I receve this Connecting to "2003Mailserver.upgrade.co.za" Logging in as current user using SSPI Importing directory from file "inetorgpersonprevent.ldf" Loading entries 1: CN=ms-Exch-Assistant-Name,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,2003mailserver.upgrade.c o.za Add error on line 1: Invalid DN Syntax The server side error is "The object name has bad syntax." 0 entries modified successfully. An error has occurred in the program and so thus I cannot run the adprep /forestprep command since it refer's me back to the original MS article

HIya mate, Make sure the entries in your ldf file look like this; n: CN=ms-Exch-Assistant-Name,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=myDomain,DC=domain,DC=com changetype: Modify replace: lDAPDisplayName lDAPDisplayName: msExchAssistantName - dn: CN=ms-Exch-LabeledURI,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=myDomain,DC=domain,DC=com changetype: Modify replace: lDAPDisplayName lDAPDisplayName: msExchLabeledURI - dn: CN=ms-Exch-House-Identifier,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=myDomain,DC=domain,DC=com changetype: Modify replace: lDAPDisplayName lDAPDisplayName: msExchHouseIdentifier - dn: changetype: Modify add: schemaUpdateNow schemaUpdateNow: 1 - Then from the command line run the program like so; ldifde -i -f inetorgpersonfix.ldf -v -c "DC=myDomain,DC=domain,DC=com" Remember the quotation makes are required, and the DC= is case sensitive. Cheers A

Thats correct - therefore if you domain is smiley.com the value in the file would be: n: CN=ms-Exch-Assistant-Name,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=smiley,DC=com Cheers
