Hi, I'm planning on an upgrade from Ex2k to Ex2k3 using the mailbox move method. At the moment, this Ex2k is running on a Win2000 Server SP4. I have a Win2003 Server R2 which the Ex2k3 will be installed. I don't think this is a problem, but if there is, pls advise. Ok, so my questions are: 1. What steps should I be checking? (This is a one domain network with two Win2003 Server R2 DCs). We only have about 100 mailboxes so I assume this mailbox move will not take long. 2. What about public folders? How do I move them? Pls advise, thks. 3. For laptops that are on the road, will they automatically be homed to the new server once they VPN into the network? I just don't want to have surprises during and after the mailbox move procedure. TIA.

1.- Check about no problems with the useres... send....recived... and so on. 2.- Use PFMIGRATE to move Public Folders 3.- Laptops will be automatic rehomed if BOTH Exchange are Online when users try to conect to the Exchange.

1. Yes, users have no problem with send/receive internall and externall. Must both Ex2000 and Ex2003 servers be online at the same time? I thought once I have moved all the mailboxes to the new Ex2003 server, the old Ex2000 will be "useless". The plan is to move all the mailboxes and the public folders to the new server and de-commission the old Ex2000 server. As far as I know, I should ensure my active directory and DNS are working by running the Win2003 server tools, DCdiag and NETdiag. Just wondering what else should I look out for?

Rex2002, if I hear you correctly, both Ex2000 and 2003 must be online at the same time to allow all the users to log on to the new Ex2003 and homed in before I should decommission the old Ex2000. What about public folders? Is there any hidden checklist I'm not aware of, or do I simply move the public folders using PFmigrate and thats it?
