We are currently running in mixed mode, should I change it to native mode before upgrade?

Anyting else to think about before I upgrade?

Nope native mode is not a requirement, and for your question regarding other issues there're nothing special to worry about (only things such as customized Logon.asp pages etc.) other than what's mentioned in the release notes:
