I've got an Exchange server 5.5 running on NT4 SP6 and wish to upgrade NT4 to Win2K on new hardware. I'm not using AD at all.

In the past I've been able to use this method but the OS has been the same on both servers

1) copy original exchsrvr folders onto another server
2) turn off orignal server
3) create new server and install exchange and set up with the same site details as old server
4) stop all services
5) copy the exchsrvr folders over the ones on the new server
6) start services
7) run isinteg -patch
8) and all is ok.

I was wondering if anyone has done this but the new server has been running win 2K instead of the same OS as the original server.

Any advise?
