Greetings,

I am currently running Exchange 2k on Server 2k and all current service packs.

I have a new server and it is running Server 2003. Once the migration is done, the old Exchange server will be demoted and taken offline. But someone told me that before you bring the new server online, you have to upgrade your AD connectors on your 2000 Servers. That I can believe, but has anyone else had to run that "inetorgpersonprevent.ldf" script file on their old 2000 Exchange server prior to the upgrade? I think it was MS KB article 314649.

I was going to upgrade the network to 2003 anyways. I ran this script file on a test server in my office and it seemed a little strange. Any feedback is appreciated.

How many AD DCs you have in your domain? Are you planning on upgrading your AD to windows 2003 server base AD as well?

You do not need to install AD Connector if you have mix enviroment of Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003. AD connector is only needed when you have exchange 5.5 in your Exchange Organization.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You need to run the script (or change the display names thru adsiedit) before running windows 2003 adprep to avoid mangled attributes.

If you are going to upgrade to Exchange 2003 anyway you can avoid the problem by running exchange 2003 forestprep.

Thank you for the responses.

I have 2 2000 DC's. One DC is the Exchange server which will be going down. The other in the master DC, which will be eventually upgraded to 2003 server. Got the software, just haven't done it.

The reason I was asking was because I took a one week course with Exchange 2003 and the instructor never mentioned running that script file. I found out about that file while doing research on AD connectors.
