Hi All,
I am using Exchange 2003 Server Standard. Three days ago we had some guys working on our system, and the whole AD became corrupt.

I have had to rebuilt the entire domain forrest. Of course, Exchange doesn't like this, so I rebuilt exchange also. I have the two files Priv1.edb and Priv1.stm.

I would really like to know if there is any way of restoring the information store? I have only been running Exchange for 6 months, so if you can offer instructions it would be most appreciated!

I'm starting to get very worried, and so are the staff who face the possibility of loosing their email if I can't get things up and running again!

Hi,

If the new server is working properly you can create a recovery server and recover the mailboxes from here - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813337

You won't be able to use the recovery storage group option as this requires the original active directory to be intact

Hi There,
I noticed that those Microsoft articles are for Exchange 2000 Server, I am running Exchange Server 2003. Will I be required to restore each mailbox one by one? Can someone who has had to do this before please help me!

The article also applies to Exchange 2003.

If you want to take a faster route (and spend quite a few bucks as well!) you might want to recover using one of below products:

Mailbox Recovery Software from Ontrack Data Recovery

Aelita Recovery Manager for Exchange
