I have an Exchange Server 2003 SP2 installed on a Windows 2003 St. SP2.

A  client called me because I was sent emails and I do not have arrived, or it seemed.
I have gone to monitor messages and if you've entered, but in this: Message Submitted to Categorizer

Exactly the message is:

SMTP: Message Submitted to Advanced Queuing
SMTP: Started Message Submission to Advanced Queuing
SMTP: Message Submitted to Categorizer

and not sent me an NDR or anything.

I have been reviewing documents from Microsoft but I can not recover these emails.
The configuration like this at this link: http://www.johnkellett.co.uk/index.php/2006/07/05/message-submitted-to-categorizer-when-forwarding-mail-on-exchange-server/

How can recover these emails?.
Thank you.

I have increased the MSExchangeTransport. - Categorizer maximum.

With this you can see what happened earlier in the categorizer increase it before?

I have no errors

Well, emails wont disappear - they might be sitting in some queue - do you see any queue backing up ??

You mean there were messages sent and those messages were not delivered - not NDR - Exchange has no clue where have they gone - can we check using those Outlook Sent Items if those messages were actually sent - compare that with message tracking logs.

Just in case you have luckily enable SMTP Logging under SMTP VS - you can actually check where those messages went to.

Categoriser is where antivirus software does its thing. Therefore when I see a message stopping at that point I go looking at the AV and the Antispam software. If it is not showing the message as being blocked, then rip it out. Disabling it is not enough.

Simon.

I am seeing the same issue. A user sent an email to a DL at 11:45am and tracking shows it was submitted from store, then submitted to advanced queuing, then started message submission to advanced queue, then submitted to categorizer and that's it. It's not in any queue, but is in the sent items of the sender.

The same sender sent to the same DL at 12:27pm and all members received it. The DL last modified date is the day before, so it's membership hasn't changed. Everything is happening in our single domain on a single Exchange 2003 (SP2) server (most members of the receiving DL are local to server sending it). The only oddity is that this DL was migrated to our AD from a different domain using Quest Migration Manager, but all the permissions seem fine (literally thousands of other DLs and accounts have been migrated with these tools without issue we have 30,000 users and nearly as many DLs). Since it never made it into a queue and never got as far as SMTP nothing was logged and no NDR. I'm turning up diagnostic logging on the categorizer, but this is the first and only report of this issue on our system (can't reproduce), so it's more forensics at this point.

During testing I discovered the exact same symptoms occur if you send an email to a DL with no members (this DL did have members). Also, our AV (antigen) is not doing real-time scanning on this back-end server, just on our front-end gateways (and scheduled store level scans nightly on the mailboxes).

I found the problem...that DL had the setting "Do not send delivery reports" selected which explains the lack of an NDR. The reason it didn't deliver is an issue, but with no NDR to go on I'm not going to waste time coming up with possible reasons.

Now I need to go slap someone's hand...
