I have been getting IS database errors in the event viewer for a couple of weeks now. The IS database is still up-mounted.
I have used Exmerge 2000 to extract mailbox data to PST's and delete the contents of the MDBData directory -*.edb, *.stm and the log Files. Then remount with a blank database, then bring the PST's back in -excluding corrupt messages.
Is this the proper way to Fix the database in Exchange 2003?
Do I need to delete the pub1.edb and pub1.stm If I am only wanting to restore mailboxes?
I will experiment further with a VMware Server.
Thanks in advance

Hi exchange2003rookie123456,

You could also create a new PRIV.EDB (up to 4 priv's per Storage Group) and move your users to that priv, the unmount/delete priv/remove-from-disk the old database.

This would provide you with much greater uptime.

I am not sure how to create another priv.edb
I went to System Manager- Server- first storage group-new mailbox store. I then get an error saying I already have the maximum number of storage groups allowed. I am running Exchange 2003 standard edition
