Hi Everyone. In our company we are using Exchange 2003 and outlook 2003.Last week one of our employe named gopinath resigned.new employe rajesh joined for the same position.so i renamed username and also add new Email id and set to primary.problem is that when i open address list in outlook and select the user for sending mails,it shows that rajesh <gopinath>. I checked in ESM, mailbox name also changed. I m very new to exchange, I have searched but i can't figure it out. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated! thanks

This can be edited using adsiedit, but I would not recommend it as I've read it can cause a variety of issues with such things as mail delivery/replies/etc. Best practice would be to create a new account for the user, rather than renaming an old one. Once you do that, you can simply add the old person's email address to the new user if you would like him to get that person's old mail, then give him access to the old mailbox until he no longer needs anything in it. Open AD user and computers on the Exchange server, find the user, there are many places in the user property page that need to be changed, pick through the tabs and change them all. Make sure to change the alias as well.

I don't rename users for any reason except marriage. I certainly would not rename an account for a new member of staff. I don't think it is fair on them to be given all the junk from the previous user. My preference would be a new account and then give the new person access to the previous user's email. Simon.
