Hi all Newbie here! Forgive me if this is a really silly question, but can anyone advise why Exchange 2003 might be returning the following UNDELIVERABLE MESSAGE email everytime a particular mailbox-enabled user is trying to send as/"FROM" a Universal Distribution Group he's part of? I'm part of the same group and have no problem, but when he tries (sending internally or externally), he always gets the following back, and his message is not delivered: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Test Sent: 29/08/2007 10:29 AM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: John on 29/08/2007 10:29 AM You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=au/DC=com/DC=galatheasts/DC=corp:EXCHANGE If he sends from his own Exchange email address (i.e. doesn't put anything in the FROM field) emails are delivered successfully, and he succesfully receives emails sent to the Distribution Group. The Distribution Group was built with a Group Type of Distribution and scope of Universal. Please let me know if you need any further info. Thanks, Georgia

Hello georgiaw23, as far as I know it doesn't matter the type of the distribution group (universal, local or global), the fact with "sending as" is in the security tab of the object. You have to give the users the priviligie "Send as" in order to allow them to put the group name on the FROM field in Outlook. Probably you can do it because you are the administrator and have the sufficient rights.

Georgia, Sergio is correct. If you've never encountered the Security tab before, in the AD Users & Computers console you have to View-->Advanced Features in order for it to appear. Open the Distribution Group object properties, go to the Security tab, add the user in question, then find and check the "Send as" box.

You found the Security tab and you added the user to the list. Highlight that user and in the lower half of the window you'll see: Full Control Read Write Create All Child Objects Delete All Child Objects Add/remove self as member Then if you scroll down further you'll see: Send As Send To Read Phone and Mail Options Write Phone and Mail Options Special Permissions Check the box next to Send As in the Allowed column.
