i've run in to something perplexing today. i have a user who's name is not appearing in the Global Address Lis, but not for everyone in my exchange organization. Some users see his name, others do not. I've checked AD and all of the Exch properties for the user. Would anyone have any suggestions? Would it be an issue with the Outlook client?

Are the clients using Outlook in Exchange Cached Mode or offline mode? Maybe they need to download the address book to see the new user(s) via Tools, Send/Receive.

Peter, That was it. I changed the user's account (non cached mode) and downloaded the address book and the previously missing GAL entry was found. I know there are some advantages to using Outlook in cached mode and would like to keep that my users unless it is going to cause this problem with GAL.

try running this command so you dont have to put user into non-cache mode.

get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook
update-filedistributionservice %CAS server name%

I had the same problem, ran command and updated OAB after running commands, assuming you also update the OAB in outlook manually or just wait for it to autosync depending on your settings.
