When users connect to our OWA webpage, they are prompted for a username/password
This is fine (obviously) but is there any way to set things up so that they don't need to prefix their username with our domain name
ie: i want them to be able to log in as
username / password
and NOT
DOMAIN_NAME\username / password
Thanks to anyone who can help me out with this
Cheers, Shamus

Hello Shamus,
In order to solve below "problem" you will need to specify a default domain on your OWA virtual folder located under the HTTP virtual server (Protocols > HTTP > Exchange Virtual Server) in the System Manager.
Some people advise you do this through the IIS Manager, but you should in fact do in the System Manager, otherwise the settings will be overwritten.

I have tried this, but it still won't work unless i prefix the username with DOMAIN_NAME\
Does it make any difference that my exchange server is sitting behind an ISA server?
Hrrmmmm.......

No as long as you use Basic Authentication, that shouldn't be a problem.

I recommend seting the /exchange and /public to the same Authentication. As Henrik said for what you want to do, you can only use Basic Authentication and Enter your Domain in the field provided.
Once you have finished that open IIS and make sure Basic Authentication is allowed for /exchweb.
Finally Open Services and restart: a) MS Exchange Information Store and then b) World Wide Web Publishing Service
