After installing SP1 on our Exchange 2007 server, many of the Office2007 users are now required to provide user credentials upon opening their Outlook application in order to access the Exchange data. What would cause this? Is there a fix for it? Thanks!

That is not the normal behaviour. How are the users connecting? Outlook Anywhere or pure MAPI? Have you checked that Outlook isn't set to Basic authentication or prompt for authentication? Simon.

They connect through MAPI. Prompt users for logon information is unchecked. For authentication, the selction "Negotiate Authentication" is selected; available also are Kerberos and NTLM. Users are required to change their password every 6 months, but would that have anything to do with it?

If you change it to NTLM, does that fix the problem? I have seen this a few times where the negotiation fails for some reason, but haven't pinned down the cause. If the users are logging in to the domain on their workstation, then the expiring password prompt should come then. It would only be a problem if the password had expired. Simon.
