I have a site where they have sent out 800 emails with a 2meg attachement which has clogged the internet gateway how do I put these in a slow moving queue ? Bandwidth throttling ? Is there any way to disable the messages I have disabled the outgoing queue however it is still slow

You can create the additional connector as per: http://www.msexchange.me.uk/rg1.mht and do a full restart on the SMTP service. This restart should put everything into limbo again and start the process of queueing messages as per the new parameters.

Failing that you can go to the properties of the SMVP VSI and select Delivery. Then select Outbound Connections and change the default (1000) to (say) 2, so that only a couple of messages go out at a time.

All that said, you might as well implement the first thing I said and leave it to deliver the backlog in however long it takes and know that next time it won't happen again.
