I have a client whose network I am setting up, 20 users, Windows 2k Small Business Server and ADSL connection to net

I am going to use zoneedit to setup an MX record to deliver mail to the static IP of their ADSL line. What I want to do is have another MX record pointing at our mailserver so we can act as backup if his server is down.

We are also running exchange, my question is how do I configure our mailserver to deliver his mail back to thier mailserver when it comes back up? Can it even be done?

Thanks

Ben

First, this backup is not needed!

Second, to do this, create a new SMTP Connector on your Exchange 2000 server. Name it whatever you want. Set this to Forward to... and set the remote domain's mail server's IP address. On the Address Space tab, add the remote domain (ex: domain.com). At the bottom of this tab, check the box that says "allow messages to be relayed..."

This will do it.
