This is driving me up, around, about, and through several walls... I just don't understand it. I create a new account, setup an exchange mailbox with it, setup the user AS an administrator... I logon to the server via Microsoft Outlook from a client computer AS the account I just made... it verifies it... I see the Public Folder...I go to expand the Public Folder...and I see Favorites and All Public Folders... I go to expand All Public Folders, I see Internet Newsgroups.. a giant gray preview pane says: Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Outlook could not access the specified folder location. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator. Fine.. I don't care about news groups... but I am logged on AS an account with administrator access!!!! So, I go to create a new Calendar Folder in the All Publics Groups folder... and a pop-up tells me: Unable to create the folder. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator. I AM LOGGED ON AS AN ADMINISTRATOR!!! In both Windows, AND in Outlook! (I understand the difference between the two) Fine, access wants to have a cumulative IQ of Pi... I'll just log on under the account literally called "administrator"... it works... this is the EXCHANGE ADMINISTRATIVE ACCOUNT, the account i used to control my *ENTIRE* server... So why is it when I go to expand Public Folders under administrator, its telling me: Unable to expand the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. You do not have permission to log on. If I wanted my computer to be this paranoid about a person actually wanting to get detailed with operations, I woud have purchased a Mac! DETAILS: Under Advanced Security SEttings for Public Folders we have - Allow Administrator (<SERVER>\Administrator) Full Control, Inherited from Parental Object, Apply to this object and subcontainers. Under the 'Owner' Tab, it says Change owner to: Administrator, Administrators Under my Ghetalion's Properties, I click on the 'Member Of' tab, and it says that I am definitly a member of Administrators So... I'm really at a loss here...

I'm thinking that in Exchange 2003 because Administators are specifically denied access its keeping you out . Try this....Take one of your regular user accounts and add it as Owner to a folder Then login to that Users Account and expand Public Folders and with that account having Owner permissions you can from your Outlook client Create Sub_Folders like Calendar Type or Contact Type etc. I actually manage my Public Folders this way.. My Exchange (Admin) account is only used to create Users and Groups and do system stuff. My regular personal ID I use is for manageing all there is about Public Folders ... I Am set as Administrative Full Access to the TLH of Public Foldera and also as the Owner at the root and any Public Folders create enherit me to be an owner thus from my Outlook Client I can do what I need to for any Public Folder. Hope this helps David

Hope this helps David Thanks for the speedy reply... Without creating a new account, I went to the Public Folder and went to the 'Owner' tab and saw that Administrator and Administrators were the owners. I specifically added 'Ghetalion' to that list as well. (My main account) I get the same message when I try to add information of any kind, be it a new folder or new event: Unable to create the folder. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object. See the folder contact or your system administrator. 1.) Did I mess up adding my account as Owner of the Public Folder? 2.) Do I have to manually create a folder called 'calendar' in Exchange System Manager or in Microsoft Access and if so... how?

Once you setup the Access in ESM ... You manage the creation of new folders from Outlook Client its a Mapi Set of folders managed from the Outlook client So to create your calendar folder go to Outlook expand the folder tree and create the sub-folders and specify Calendar Type. David

David I have done as you stated with Ghetalion as the Owner of Public Folder... however, I still get the error: Unable to create the folder.
