Have setup access to OWA 2003 through a front end server via a VPN from a Linux Apache web server -> to a cisco vpn router, nated to the exchange server.

We can see from the logs on our server and exchange server, that all authentication is OK, no errors, OWA displays fully but with a couple of browser errors.
Cannot see inbox messages for users.

Errors in IE browser.
Permission Denied on all .htc files

Does exchange need any permissions set to allow access??
