When I try to backup our information store using Veritas v9, its popping up with these errors:

Backup - \\SERVERNAME\Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes

Database or database element is corrupt

Backup - \\SERVERNAME\Microsoft Information Store\First Storage Group

Access denied to database Mailbox Store (SERVERNAME).
Database or database element is corrupt

I have ran an ISINTEG a few times now, twice in a row on some occasions & after the 2nd time, the ISINTEG doesnt pic up anything.

So we try a backup of the information store yet it keeps saying its corrupt.

Please can anyone help?

Thanks,

Leo.

Did this ever work? Were you ever able to successfully backup the Excahnge IS or mailboxes? If not, verify that the Veritas system account (the user account running the verites services) is an "Exchange Full Administrator". Go to System Manager (highlight orginization name) click on Action / Degegate control. Run throught the wiz and verify (or add) the Veritas service account here. Good Luck!

It seems that MCAfee has corrupted our information store beyond repair.

In the end after running every fix under the sun we have decided the best way to "fix" the situation was to create a new information store & transfer over all the mailboxes.

We tested the backup & it worked fine on the new IS.

I guess ill be a bit more carefull in future about installing McAfee!

Thanks,

Leo.

Helo Again,
I'm not sure about McAfee, however I know that with Symantec you do need to exclude some directories from being scanned (Mdbdata, Mtadata and others) or they could corrupt the exchange IS. Take care :-)

KJaiman: We excluded the exchange directory after the product was installed, that is why *we think* the priv1.edb database became corrupt as the McAfee agent was scanning the directory. We have exluded it now though.

shimon: thanks for your reply, but its a Exchange 200 server not 2003.

Its backing up fine now after creating a new store & tranferring all the mailboxes to it.

Thanks,

Leo.

Hi Leo

If you are using the enterprise edition of exchange then create a mailbox store and then move the mailbox to new mailbox store

Delete the old store and then go ahead and take the backup.

If u don't use enterprise edition then exmerge the mailbox to pst

create a new mdbdata folder and import the pst back to mdbdata and then try with backup
