We operate a small exporting business, our network topology (in its simplest form) has a computer connected to a switch connected to a gateway router (high speed cable). We have an Exchange server connected to the same switch and its other NIC connected to a different router (business DSL, server side). Each computer is set to use the gateway router as its gateway.

When a users attaches a file, the file is sent to the switch, through the gateway router, in through the DSL router, and into the Exchange server.

It should just go into the switch and to the server.

Please help... this is causing frustrating delays for our users.

"When a user attaches a file" ?? Please explain this! It sounds as if your clients are on a different subnet then the exchange server; if this is the case then all traffic will go through the default gateway.
