I have a windows 2000 Server with sp4 and Exchange 2003 Sp1.
We have an issue where the Winmgmt process is hogging from 50 to 90% of the CPU at any given time.

I have tried a couple things including the follow which didnt do anything.
1. I tried recreating the wbem repository, the process worked but didnt do anything to fix the issue

2.
I'm trying to resolve the following error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: Monitoring
Event ID: 9097
Description:
The MAD Monitoring thread was unable to connect to WMI, error '0x8004100e'.

I found the following KB articles with instructions on how to resolve this
problem, but neither is working for me.

The second fix (
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;288590 ) sounds much
better, quicker and easier, but it flat doesn't want to work.  After typing
the command listed (%systemroot%\system32\wbem\mofcomp.exe
cd-rom:\setup\i386\exchange\exwmi.mof) I get the following error:

Parsing MOF file: D:\setup\setup\1386\exchange\exwmi.mof
MOF file has been successfully parsed
Storing data in the repository...
An error occured while opening the namespace for object 1 defined on lines
14 - 17:
Error Number: 0x8004100e, Facility: WMI, Description: Invalid namespace
Compiler returned error 0x8004100e

Thanks...
