We have a multihomed (2 NICs) Exchange 2007 server running on Server 2003. At times, we have high volumes of incoming email, which slows down browsing, etc. for our users. We have a second Internet connection that we would like to use for incoming email only, keeping outgoing email, OWA, etc. on the existing Internet connection. Is this possible? What is the best way to accomplish it? TIA-- Carol

First - a multi-homed Exchange server is not a recommended solution. I would suggest that you change that to a single homed server, unless the second connection is being used for something like clustering. While you can use a second connection for email, it would be for outbound only unless you changed the default gateway on the server. A server cannot have more than one default gateway. If you wanted to use the second connection for incoming email then it would be used for outgoing as well. Another option would be a dual WAN port router. This would have both connections terminated on it. Then you set one default gateway on all systems and use the configuration of the router to send certain traffic in certain directions. Simon.
