Hi all;

Thanks for the opportunity to post my question in regards to Outlook web access.

We are a small organization with 3 servers running Server 2003 Standard edition. One is primarily a file and print server(DC) but is running IIS. The other DC has SQL 2000 installed and is not running IIS. Finally we have the third server with our Exchange 2003 implementation although it is not a DC.

We would like to host our our own website and also have OWA externally, and of course we own our own domain name although currently it is hosted elsewhere(easy enough for me to point it here though).

Personally I like the idea of having a DMZ'ed ISA server however, about the only thing I can do right now is simply forward through our router as of course we are small and the IT budget is blown until sometime in the next couple of years.

Is there a simple solution someone can point me to for hosting our own webpage and OWA?

I'd like the file and print server to host the webpage and of course the Exchange server for our mail. Ideally, it would be something like http://www.ourdomain.com for our hosted web and http://mail.ourdomain.com for our OWA.

I appreciate any advice offered and thanks again!

In regards to hosting your own website, simply forward port 80/TCP in your router to the server running IIS.

For the OWA question I can recommend you checkout below article which shows you step by step how to implement SSL on your OWA virtual directories:

SSL Enabling OWA 2003 using your own Certificate Authority:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/SSL_Enabling_OWA_2003.html

When this is done you would need to forward port 443/TCP to your Exchange server.

Let me know if you're still in doubt...

Thankyou Henrik;

Everything worked fine and I was able to download the certificate, however, thats where the success ends. As soon as I click 'yes' to accept the certificate , IE simply displays a 'cannot find server' error dialog. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

So far so good [Smile]

When taking Properties of the Default Web Site in the IIS Manager is port 443 specified in the SSL port field under the Web Site tab?

Below MS KB might also help:

Yes it is, I'll also check out the article thankyou...

Wll I read the article but it doesn't really apply. Perhaps I'll just remove the SSL requirement until such a time as I can test drive it on another box lol [Roll Eyes]

Update:

I solved my SSL problem, It was my bad right from the get go. On the tutorial, after I cut and pasted the contents of the text file into web page, I failed to change the certificate template from 'Administrator' to 'Web Server'.

After I removed the certificate and replaced it, everything works deliciously. Thanks Henrik once again for your assistance and the pointers.
