We moved some public folders (by downloading to a PST) from an Exchange 5.5 server to a new 2003 server. A couple of the folders on the new system don't allow users to edit the contents, even when they are marked as Owner or Editor.

The folder in question is a Contact folder, and when you open specific items, the title bar says "read only". Other items (created AFTER the transfer) don't have this problem.

The true domain administrator account doesn't have this problem, but any other user doesn't work quite right. I can "fix" it by re-exporting to a XLS file, and then importing, but then I lose some custom fields and other important details.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I just had the same issue and it was the file permissions. The filel level permissions were overriding the parent folder level even thought it is set to propogate/
