Real quick question here:

Are there any repercussions of restarting the IIS services in the middle of the workday when people are sending and receiving mail? If so, what are they? I can't find this info anywhere.

Thanks!
Jess

Restarting IIS would only affect people who are accessing OWA or Public Folders, but since the restart takes place so fast - it would not affect much.

I have used iisreset loads of times in production, wouldn't cause much harm.

Hi,

This dependson a few things but most times user will not see it because it's restarted in a few seconds but keep the following things in mind:

The issues below only will occur on a CAS server:

- OWA is not accesible when IIS is down
- OAB can not be downloaded (this is only applicable if using Outlook 2007
clients)
- ActiveSync isnot accesible when IIS is down

Also the mailbox server usessome IIS components like COM+ etc.
What the result on restarting IIS on the mailbox server will be I don't know maybe someone else on the forum got experience with it.
