Note this command:
Move-Mailbox -TargetDatabase "Target Server\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" -Identity john -GlobalCatalog GC01.fabrikam.com -SourceForestGlobalCatalog GC02.contoso.com -NTAccountOU "OU=OrgUnit01,DC=fabrikam,DC=com"

the OU is OrgUnit01, but that is just a placeholder for this command example.

I know that I want to use this command and create the account on my new Exchange Server in the domain named "daram.com" - but I don't know what OU to use in the command.  When I installed Exchange I named the Organization "DaRam Companies".  Is that the OU, and why can't I go somewhere and display the dead gum OU - I have been searching for hours on this.

Please help me deal with my ignorance in this matter.

Regards,
Barry

hi badkins,

This -NTAccountOU "OU=OrgUnit01,DC=fabrikam,DC=com" is nothing but a the organizational unit in which the Microsoft Windows NT accounts are created, it is not the exchange organization OU i guess, and it is optional comand interface.

Please this url:
Move-Mailbox
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997599.aspx

This what i have as of now.

Thanks for the reply.

I did gave the url already as that is where I got the command example.

Still, could someone please tell me how to find the OU for my system.  AS I mentioned, the domain name is "daram.com" legacy domain is just "DARAM".

I did not particularly create an "organization" so I am sure my OU is whatever default OU Windows creates from the Domain name entered, etc.

AND is there not some location I can go to to "DISPLAY" the OU.

Regards,
Barry

Still don't know where to find the OU name.  I see in Active Directory there are a couple of OU enteries about Exchange and some sequrity thing, but nothing that looks like an "organizational unit" name...

Okay,

I see this is a difficult question so I'm going to share my research for those who may later have a similar question.

I am still not an Active Directory expert, but I have learned from research that it appears no organizational units are created in an Active Directory automatically - that is none for your users, etc.  There are a few that do created for various things like Exchange and othe similar things.

For your users and groups however, until you create and organize your Active Directory with Organizational Units, there are not (for that purpose).  So I suppose you can leave off that parameter in commands like the 1 I plan to use for migrating mail boxes from 1 forest to another.

Any corrections to my thinking are welcome.
