Ok, So I setup a new Exchange 2007 Domain. I can send messages internally no problems. I can send messages externally ONLY if I use a smart host. How come? Why can't I send messages without a smart host? I have the send and receive connectors configured already.

What am I missing?

Do you have the firewall opened on port 25? What NDR if any do you see? (non delivery report) There are places to look and determine what the NDR means.

Also, open the EMC and right click over Server Configuration and go to properties and make sure you have under "External DNS Lookups" tab,

Use Network Card DNS settings check and select "All IPV4 Addresses" And of course make sure that card has your ISP's DNS or what ever you have chosen to use.
