Hi ...

Kindly follow up with me throughout all stages .
Kindly give a Yes or No where appropriate.

All Servers are running W2K (with SP4)
Only One Domain Controller is installed at the forest level , call it DC .Its also the GC Server.
Only One E2K Server (with SP3)is to be installed at the forest level.

1 : The Setup utility of E2K will automatically
run the /Forestprep & /Domainprep utilities
as part of the overall installation process.
In other words , these switches do not have
to be run separately ( prior to the
Installation of E2K ) .

2 : In order to add a child domain with mail-
enabled users :

* Do we have to run /Forestprep again ?

* We should run /Forestprep & /Domainprep at
the forest level again ( on the DC or the
E2K machine itself !)

* We should assign the administrator of the
newly created child domain an Exchange
Full Administrator using the delegation
wizard.
This user should also be added to the
local admin group on the E2K machine
itself.

* We should run the /Domainprep utility
at the Domain Controller of the Child
Domain using its own administrator account
( a Domain Admin Member )

* We should install the Exchange System tools
on the child Domain Controller in order to
add the Exchange 2000 tasks to the Active
Directory Users & Computers menu .

* On the E2K Server itself , a new Recipient
Update Service should be added for the
newly created child domain.

In fact I have E2K running fine at the parent level , but problems start showing up when I need to mail-enable a child domain .

Your assistance would be highly appreciated.

Lots of thanks

No, you only do it once.

For the child domain just run the /DomainPrep.

Lote of thanks for your answers .
In fact I have been able to solve the problem of not being able to create a separate RUS for the child domain by first trying it before installing E2K SP3 first !

Too strange despite the sayings of MS that this service pack has nothing to do with Schemas/Foreasts/Domains/....etc !

Thanks
