Hello,

I have a company with 10 employees and currently we just use pop mail accounts. So I am wondering what benefits we would have from switching to exchange. We also use Sharepoint so I guess there would be some integration benefits there. So I am wondering with 10 emplyess would it be a good move? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

You switch to Exchange when you have a clear business need to do so. If you have SharePoint then you have a clear need for a Microsoft infrastructure. I would therefore suggest that you should have been given some advice that involved the words Small Business Server. If you discounted that then I'd be interested to know what that reasoning is.

I have MBS but uninstalled it and now use windows 2003 server. I would like to use exchange as I can see the benefits but am not sure about the work load it will take to set up. What king of network connection would I need, i am assuming ADSL is not enough?

You haven't sorted out the core infrastructure first. If you have the cash to buy a DC and a separate SharePoint Server (and you'll need a separate Exchange server) then you should have a proper connection from your business-class ISP with a fixed IP address.

sorry, I should of mentioned that I have a sharepoint server and a DC and will shortly move to a science park, where I hope to have a 10gb connection. I have never installed exchange or used it before but am familiar with other microsoft servers. Is exchange easy to configure and keep online? Also, how do I switch from using my pop emails to an exchange email? Currently a seperate provider is hosting my pop emails and I would like zero down time, or as little as possible. I guess my question is if I have a pop email account called say demo@demo.com can I set up exchange to receive emails to that address? I am guessing I will have to host the whole domain (demo.com) also?

OK.
Get a consultant in or ring a local reseller to provide you with the professional services to make this happen. You can't learn this stuff from 10 lines in a forum unfortunately. You'll need to talk to a reseller about getting the server and the software so you may as well ask them to give you the PS assistance.
