I need helping finding the best place to buy Microsoft Exchange Server. I'm working for a small company and so I thought that we would be fine if we went with 5.5 instead of 2000, what are your thoughts. We will only need about 15 email address's, so would that mean I would need 15 cals? Any information would be great thanks.

Dell direct has some nice value line server that should suit your needs. Since you only have 15 clients Microsoft makes Small business server that can handle up to 50 clients. I think it comes with a 10 user license. You will have a tuff time finding Exchange 5.5 included in SBS4.5 the SKU's are no longer avail from microsoft. I horsed around with the SBS2k BETA and it worked all alright. Hope it helped.

The choice may depend on your OS. Exchange 5.5 is best for NT 4. Exchange 2000 should be run on W2000. The 2K Exchange version works with the W2K active directories.

I agree with Poppa-Wan, I just set up SBS 2000 for a small (20 user) network, and it works fine. At least so far....

If you have 50 users at present, SBS may be a little limited, but it does the job well. You could try www.xenex.co.uk, give them a call, they deal in most network op systems. Horness
