If you enable forms based authentication and SSL then you don't have to worry about ending sessions that were not closed correctly, as they will be killed off anyway. As for seeing users who are logged in, that isn't possible through Exchange. Perfmon will give you raw numbers, but that is all. You might find something that works with IIS, but unless you have a large number of users the impact on the server will be minimal. Simon.

The ESM is not live, as Sembee wrote. It shows last logged in users per mailbox, regardless of if the users was connected through OWA, a POP client or a MAPI client. To end all sessions on a front-end server, simply run a iisreset on your server, it will disconnect all active session made through OWA. Gilles

Users just doing the X out of the session should not have caused a problem. If it was an issue it would be well documented by now - I have been working with Exchange for some time and this is the first time I have seen this error reported. Therefore it has to be something else. Do you mean you were getting the MAPI error about 32 sessions in the event log? If so that has nothing to do with OWA, you will see that with other clients as well. The most common cause is old network drivers. If you are using Windows 2003 SP2 and the drivers are not dated this year (2008) then almost certainly they are old and need to be updated. Simon.
