I'm running Exchange 2000 on a natvie mode 2000 DC (there is also another DC). When I create distribution lists it takes over 24 hours for them to appear in the Global Address List. I usually create them as Universal, although I've observed that it makes no difference if I choose Global. I've tried forcing replication between DCs, to no avail.

Does anyone know why it takes so long for these lists to be seen/usable by the Exchange clients? Is this normal?

Status: online 		It's nothing to do with replication between the DCs (or at least it hasn't in the first instance). How often is your Recipient Update Service running? That will dictate the time delay between the mail enablement of the DG and it appearing in the GAL.
Check the DCs as well. Create a Global Group and don't mail enable it. It won't take very long at all for it to appear in ADU&C on the other DC. Then mail enable it and report the length of time that takes to get into the GAL.
