We have installed an exchange server and have our domain hosted by Network Solutions external DNS. We have port 25 forwarded (open) on our firewall and can SEND AND RECIEVE from hotmail.com, but we cannot receive from GMAIL but can send to it in our testing. Relaying is authenticated only and we run mcafee 7.1 on the server. About a 2 weeks ago we could receive from GMAIL but now we cannot. Do we need PTR records set? What might exchange's reason for not accepting gmail mail and what can I do to resolve it.

Thanks,
Vex

Ok I think this might be PART of my problem.
How can I fix this and make an SPF record for my server?

From: http://www.dnsreport.com/
WARNING: One or more of your mailservers is claiming to be a host other than what it really is (the SMTP greeting should be a 3-digit code, followed by a space or a dash, then the host name). This probably won't cause any harm, but is a technical violation of RFC821 4.3 (and RFC2821 4.3.1). Note that the hostname given in the SMTP greeting should have an A record pointing back to the same server.

MAIL.xxxxxxx.com claims to be non-existent host yyyyy.xxxxxx.local:
220 yyyyy.xxxxxx.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service, Version: 6.0.3790.1830 ready at Sat, 23 Apr 2005 13:44:35 -0400

Thank you,

vex

My problem solved itself. GMAIL had a DNS issue.
