I am looking for a way to have Internet emails that are sent to an invalid email address, to be sent to a specified mailbox without sending a bounce back to the user. Similar to a catch all address, this mailbox would collect emails sent to invalid accounts on our domain.

Is there a setting in Exchange I can set or is there a software I need to purchase?

Thanks,
Edward Brown

You can select a mailbox to receive the undeliverable messages by choosing an Administrator mailbox in the IMS. The sender will also receive and NDR regarding their message. Just wondering why you would not want an NDR to be returned to the sender on an invalid address.

I prefer to have the NDR sent and still forward the message on to the correct person when I can get to it. At least the sender won't assume somebody has already received their urgent messages if they know it was an invalid address and could not be delivered.

I am trying not to have to create thousands of mailboxes that will be looked at by one person. I wanted to find an easy way to publish several addresses and have them all go to the single mailbox without the NDR.

Is it possible to do this in Exchange 2000? Or do I have to buy a third party program?
