I run an exchange 2000 server at home behind a dynamic IP. I use dyndns.org to relay my domain name to what ever my ip address is. My one domain name sends and receives mail no problem to and from my Exchange server.
Here is my question
If I purchase another domain name, how do I add that to my exchange server so that I can I can receive and send email from that domain name as well as my original domain? Or will each domain need to be on a seperate exchange box?
I hope this made sense but if not, I can explain in more detail. [ March 08, 2004, 04:07 AM: Message edited by: carlos1000 ]

Carlos, Its very easy, open Active Directory Users and Computers, Users folder and select the properties for a user.
Click on the Email Addresses and simply add a new SMPT address and use the new domain name.

So if I have an exchange 2000 server in a domain called Wireless, I can send and receive email all day long from user@wireless.com and I purchase a domain called wired.com, I just go to my exchange server on wireless.com domain, open active dir. users/comps, in the users folder, I create a new user with the new domain email address for wired.com?
I just want to send and receive pop3 email using my own 2 domains from one single exchange server if this makes sense.
How will I view this new domain in exchange system manager?
Is the above instructions listed correct or did I miss any steps?
Thanks again! [ March 12, 2004, 04:09 PM: Message edited by: carlos1000 ]

I shows how to host multiple SMTP domains on one server but ... & excuse my ignorance but I don't know if what I am trying to do is host just a SMTP domain alone. I want incoming and outgoing mail for the new domain.
Mail Server \_____ wireless.com domain \____mailbox users \______ wired.com domain \___mailbox users

Follow along.
1. Make sure you add wire.com to the recipient policy in the ESM like the link says. I've seen many people add the new email to the user but forget to add the new domain to Exchange. http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF010.html
2. Yes, all you have to do is create a new user in AD and under email, add the new SMTP address like user@wire.com. It's possible that this email will already be there waiting for you if you add this to the Recipient Policy. If not just add it.
3. Since you are using POP, it's easy to setup multiple incoming/outgoing emails. In a direct connection to exchange, only the PRIMARY smtp email is used as the return address. That would be wireless.com. In POP, you can specify your own return address. When you go through the set up of the POP account, just type in user@wire.com for email and reply. This way when the person send out the email, the recipient sees that it's coming from wire.com and not wireless.com.
Hope this helps.
