I recently installed Win 2K3 SP1 on my Exchange 2003 server and noticed the following event every time I reboot:
===================== Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7022 Date: 5/7/2005 Time: 2:35:42 PM User: N/A Computer: EXCHANGE2K3 Description: The Kerberos Key Distribution Center service hung on starting.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. ==========================================
Has anyone run into this and if so, how did they resolve it?
-Glenn

This event was not there previous. Also when you reboot it takes forever unless I disable the Kerberos service.

Did you enable the Windows firewall? If yes you might want to disable it to see if this fixes the problem. If it does then it sounds like the firewall has been set to aggressively when configured via the Security Configuration Wizard (SCW).

Hi, I have same problem here. The KDC hung on starting.
And every 15 minutes there are errors in systemlog:
A Kerberos Error Message was received: on logon session Client Time: Server Time: 6:53:6.0000 5/9/2005 Z Error Code: 0xd KDC_ERR_BADOPTION Extended Error: 0xc00000bb KLIN(0) Client Realm: Client Name: Server Realm: DOMAIN.LOCAL Server Name: host/DC.domain.local Target Name: host/DC.domain.local@DOMAIN.LOCAL Error Text: File: 9 Line: ae0 Error Data is in record data.
If I try to sniff packets using Network Mon...there is an error - KDC cannot accomodate requested option.
I dont disable KDC service yet.

I had the same problem at the following situation: 1 Site 3 Domain Controllers (HP DL380)
And the same problem on all DC's. I installed the proliant supportpack 7.30 and after the Windows 2003 SP1 Error 7022, The KDC service hung on starting
And the service is started normaly
I run dcdiag and netdiag, and it has no strange results. And this is not the first time i've installed SP1 on a domain controller. I say very strange.

I have the same problem, takes forever to restart (around 15 min) and I get the mentioned error messages. Do you guys have the certification authority installed? Beacuse I do and I suspect that it's the one giving me the error even though its working fine.
