Hi there- Please forgive me as I am not an Exchange guy but the end user . But no one seems to be able to figure out the issue I am having, and it seems like you guys are the last line of defense between me and insanity. I am having trouble some e-mail trouble on my HP ipaq 6315 service thru T-Mobile; if anyone has any theories on this, please throw it out there as myself and my IT guy have hit a wall.
I use this device to get both my work e-mail (via IMAP4) and personal (via POP3). My work e-mail is coming through an Exchange server. I receive e-mail fine from either account. When I send e-mail out thru POP3, it sends just fine with text and/or attachments of any size.
However, if I try to send e-mail from IMAP4, its gets weird. I can e-mail fellow co-workers if their domain is the same. Meaning if I am me@work.com, I can email you@work.com, him@work.com, etc. But if I try to e-mail someone with a different domain, say, bob@aol.com, I get an error message that says: ------------------------------------------------ From: System Administrator Subject: Invalid Message Recipients Sent: 12/1/04 4:17 PM
Your message 'Test' was not sent and has been moved to the Drafts folder.
The following recipients are invalid: bob@aol.com -------------------------------------------------
So it sounds like its coming from the server. And I know it connects because I can retrieve mail just fine. My IT guy says that they can toy with the server and make changes, but because the error gives so little info, he does not know where to even start with the server settings, if that's in fact it. I know in full Outlook, you can right click the message, choose options, and see the internet headers to show where its been. But can you see this thru Pocket Outlook?
Here's what I know on the device/Windows Mobile side: -with 'Require SSL Connection' on, I get an error that says a SSL connection could not be established, then a second box that says to check the connections. -with 'Require SSL Connection' off, I can receive e-mails and can send e-mails to our similar work domain addresses only. -with the 'Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication' turned off, I get a timed out error. -with the 'Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication' on, I can receive e-mails and send e-mails to our similar work domain addresses only.
T-Mobile isn't sure what the problem is. Both myself and my friendly IT guy welcome any ideas or wacko theories. He is watching this thread too and can check the settings on the Exchange side. Thanks for any help!
