I have the following configuration: one DC and one Exchange Server, both standard 2003 servers and they have security templates applied according to windows server 2003 security guide. When I install windows server 2003 sp1 I can't get the mail to work properly. All the services are up and running but when accessing with OWA it says 440 Login Timeout and with Outlook it asks for my credentials but still doesn't let me in. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the security templates but don't know exactly what.

This question crops up a lot.
The last one I saw was this: http://forums.msexchange.org/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=001287 and it explains things nicely.

Although:
Sometimes it's simply because someone has modified the logon.asp for for OWA, secured it before going to SP2 and then dropped it back in afterwards. That caught me out. I simply reverted back to the SP2 logon.asp and all was fine. Gave the file back to the code monkeys and they changed it again, job done, everyone happy.

I've tried resetting the passwords but have not ran the scripts that's mentioned. I'm not really convinced though that this is the problem.

OK, so if it's not those two it's another one I encountered recently but stupidly didn't bookmark.

I'll try and hunt round the history. It was on a mainstream site though, not in some obscure blog. Might be worth you doing a search as well.
