Probably most of you already heard about this issue.
"""
When an end user sends mail to the Internet from an Exchange Windows or Outlook client, a file attachment called Winmail.dat may be automatically added to the end of the message if the recipient's client cannot receive messages in Rich Text Format (RTF). The Winmail.dat file contains Exchange Server RTF information for the message, and may appear to the recipient as a binary file. It is not useful to non-Exchange Server recipients.
"""

In my situation I would like to prevent the Winmail.dat from being sent to certain domain (for exmaple, to @test.com).

Is there any solution to do that?

Is it possible to setup MS Exchange 2000 to "re-format" all corespondence flowing to the TEST.COM into PLAIN TEXT?

I had this same problem and never found a real solution. I had the user change to using plain text, but he still had some emails changing the attachment to a .dat file. If you find a solution, please let me know...bcozy22@hotmail.com

thanks.

Likewise i have had the same problem. I suggested they change the format of the attachment. Also suggested that recipients check out their systems and make any required changes to accept the attachments. It can only be the recipients network which is altering the file so from my point of view there is nothing further i can do.

If you do come up with a suitable solution please let me know.
