I am running Win2K3 Server and Exchange Server 2K3. Once upon a time we have users at domain x (joe@domainX.com) for logon/e-mail use, and now we have transfered over into a new domain (joe@domainY.com). Problem is some of the people here, when typing in the name of a person, instead of giving them the new logon/e-mail info and putting that into the "To:" box, it puts instead the old domain info. Then when sent the message comes back as undeliverable.
Can you help? Thanks.

Have you reconfigured and updated your Recipient Policies with the new e-mail addresses? Also, within the Policies, why not leave the old address in (though not as the primary) so e-mail gets delivered even if sent to the old address?

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. I apologize.
I have a user called John Doe who's current AD User account has an Exchange account JDoe@msn.com. A couple of months back, JDoe's company was under a different domain, and his logon name was different as well (then it was NYCJDoe@microsoft.com). We used the migration tool to migrate the accounts to the new domain (microsoft -> msn) and after successfully migrating we renamed the user. Everything else works fine, but only in Exchange (outlook), when I type in the "To:" box "John Doe", the box shows the following text: "John Doe <NYCJDoe>" and it thinks that is his e-mail address. Then it tries to e-mail that address which doesn't exist and it returns back to sender with an unknown user account error. I want it to recognize John Doe as "John Doe <JDoe@msn.com>"
Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it! :-)

Okay, so the Outlook client is getting obsolete account information from somewhere--the question is where. One (unlikely) possibility is an out-of-date Offline Address Book. Another is incorrect information in the Global Catalog. Is the old domain in the same forest, and is it still around?
Also, when you renamed the user accounts, did you change their Exchange alias (a separate and independent attribute)?

I tried to delete the outlook.bk2 file on one user's pc and it seems to work. Problem is I don't have that file on my PC. As far as exchange aliases go, I checked and they are correct. You mentioned maybe that the Global Catalog would be incorrect. But doesn't it get it's information from AD Users & Computers? So if they are right in there, wouldn't the GC also have the same info? How can I check what is in the Global Catalog?
Thanks.
