To all,

My company has been using MSMail for the longest time for internal messaging, and a paid external POP3 service from a Provider for external messaging.

Due to several limitations/problems (specifically the fact that each user has 2 addresses, one for internal and one for external), we have decided to move on and start using Exchange 2000 Enterprise for our messaging needs. (finally! :-)

However, we will continue to use the external POP3 for the moment for external messaging (it is planned to eventually do it on our own, but I am not counting on it happening anytime soon...).

My question:
What is the best way to configure exchange to send/receive messages from an external SMTP/POP3 server? Also, do I need to configure DNS specifically for this (i.e. MX record) or can Exchange handle it on its own?
IMPORTANT: I want all the users to have ONE e-mail address only! Exchange should be able to figure out if it needs to stay "inside" or has to go "outside".

Some additional info:
Our domain: KLDLABS.LOCAL
Win2k Server SP4, AD
Exchange 2000 Enterprise
Basic DNS for AD

POP3 domain @ Provider: KLDLABS.COM

Any help or nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Michael
