XEXCH50 from MSX2000 to MSX5.5 fails - 28.Sep.2001 2:53:00 PM

We have Exchange 5.5 SP4 on NT4.0 SP3 server.
3 sites with Exchange 2000 fail to send mail.
Our log indicates an XEXCH50 (Exchange to Exchange) send of binary (354 Send Binary Data) - to which after 4 minutes, our 5.5 responds with '554 Invalid Response Code'.

All else works fine. Messages from 2000 have attachements (we have no restrictions on size)
How can we not advertise XEXCH50 verbs from 5.5??
