I have an Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000 configuration. One user is having difficulties logging into the Exchange Server, (it presents 'You do not have permissions to login').

Weird thing is that the user's mailbox has his valid NT account (which he can login to the workstation with) as the primary account. If I create a new mailbox and assign his NT account to it, I can change his outlook configuration and it logs in fine.

Is this some screwed up permissions with his particular mailbox (I can still access it as administrator)?

Try logging on to his mailbox using his user account on another station, if this works, then it is his local profile which is corrupt. You will need to delete his profile (delete his profile folder), and logon again to create a new profile.
