Can someone explain this to me like I'm a three year old. It is my understanding that when you send a message to a DL that has lets say one hundred people as members, that exchange does not create one hundred instances of that message in the IS, but only one and then each member of DL sees a pointer to that message. The reason I ask is because someone sent out a message that they should not have and rather then use e-merge I was wondering if there is any way to find that message in the IS and just delete it from there, so that none of the clients can see it. Now if you are rolling on the floor laughing due to the ignorance of this question I apologize, but if you can help that would be just skippy!

not sure joe - but at least that was a nicer response than SMP_Homer! We're all working towards a common goal here and this forum is to help not hurl insults.

The problem with the senerio that you suggest is that the pointer would still be attached to everyone's mailbox to an email that didn't exist. When you run the exmerge you are using that pointer and creating a copy of tha message during extraction. I do not know a way to remove just that one message and all the pointers in one easy swoop. Also, Exmerge does not remove the message if it has been forwarded to another recipient. I haven't tested it yet, but ISScan would probrably work to remove the messages a little easier. You would have to play with it a bit as it was designed to removed attachments - mainly the melissa virus, but I'm sure it is possible. Good luck.
