I would just like to find out if the following scenario will workÓÓ
I am looking into affordable exchange resiliency, with out using cluster services.

Lets say I have 2 two exchange servers, obviously in one site.

EXCHANGE_A and EXCHANGE_B

Exchange_A has the live EDB and transaction logs and all the other fileĂs it needĂs (there is another 1 or 2 cant remember right now), which then gets backed up via a secure copy type product to a ˘Backup÷ directory on Exchange_B

Now the funÓ.. if Exchange_a falls over, is the way that Exchange_B can un-mounted from it own EDB/transaction, and remounted on to the ˘backup÷ directoryĂs files on Exchange_B. Will this work, or is there hidden security issueĂs.

any coments wellcome

thanks

I see what your getting at and it sounds good..... in theory.

I dont think its going to work. Just feel there maybe too many issues behind the scenes that will stop the stores from mounting...

best way to find out... try it mate! [Smile]

If you dont.. I think I will!

I will be trying this out soon, i just have bigger issues to sort out.

I will loading a 2003 server in to a 2003 AD Forest , but the E2K site is still 2000, as with all the companied problems that follow an in place migration, we have decided to do this way.

The only thing that is bugging me about the EDB/Transaction logs on another server is:
-MS Security allowing it
-Missing mail boxesÓÓ the two exchange servers will need to be identical.
-Actual stability of the server

If you give it a bash before i do, please keep me informed and i will do like wise.

thanks
